AAN Strategic Conference Advances Inclusive Education for Persons with Albinism

The Albinism Association of Nigeria (AAN) held a One-Day Strategic Conference on January 23, 2025, in Abuja, bringing together key stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Education, NCPWD, and JONAPWD, to discuss inclusive education for persons with albinism.

The conference focused on reviewing policy frameworks, addressing systemic barriers, and developing action plans for advancing inclusive education. Highlights included:
✅ Commitments to inclusive education as a fundamental right.
✅ Policy refinement to align with international frameworks.
✅ Teacher training to support students with albinism.
✅ Exam accommodations, such as assistive technology and extended time.
✅ Skin cancer awareness initiatives for students with albinism.
✅ Stakeholder collaboration to drive implementation and accountability.

A communiqué was issued outlining resolutions and an action plan for inclusive education advocacy. The conference reaffirmed AAN’s commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunities for persons with albinism.
