Kano, May 14, 2025 – The Albinism Association of Nigeria (AAN) held a one-day media roundtable at the Grand Central Hotel Bompai, Kano State, to promote conversation around government commitments post-Global Disability Summit (GDS).
The program, funded by the Disability Rights Fund (DRF), aimed to highlight Nigeria’s commitments and call for full implementation. Keynote speaker, Dr. (Mrs.) Bisi Bamishe, emphasized the crucial role of media in promoting and amplifying government’s efforts for timely implementation of commitments made.
Participants, including media representatives, government officials, and disability advocates, engaged in interactive discussions on media strategies for generating meaningful coverage to enhance effective implementation.
The association called for full implementation of GDS commitments, emphasizing the need for government action to support persons with albinism and other disabilities.
The event featured goodwill messages from the Commissioner for Information, Abdullahi Ibrahim Waiya, and Director of Disability, Dr. Binta Bala, among others.
AAN’s efforts aim to promote inclusive governance and ensure that Nigeria’s commitments to persons with disabilities are translated into tangible actions.
