The Albinism Association of Nigeria (AAN) has called for strengthened collaboration among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), civil society groups, and other key institutions to advance advocacy and accelerate the implementation of national and global commitments for persons with albinism.

This call was made during the Robust Strategic Stakeholders’ Conference held on 4th December 2025 at Best Rotana Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State. The AAN Executive Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Bisi Bamishe, represented by the Program Manager, Joseph Akuse, emphasized the urgent need for collective action to translate Nigeria’s Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2025 commitments into measurable results for communities.

In his remarks, he noted that the conference was designed to unite MDAs, the AAN National Executive Council, the Kwara State albinism community, OPDs/CSOs, and other critical stakeholders in shaping sustainable solutions for the future of persons with albinism in Nigeria.

The AAN Kwara State Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Abdulsalam, welcomed participants and urged community members to actively contribute to the discussions.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development, Mr. Peter Kayode, commended AAN’s efforts and reaffirmed the Kwara State Government’s commitment to supporting policies that protect and enhance the lives of persons with disabilities.

The conference brought together representatives from the Ministries of Education, Health, and Environment, JONAPWD, OPDs, CSOs, and members of the albinism community.
