The Albinism Association of Nigeria (AAN) has successfully conducted the White Fire Medical Outreach Programme from 10th – 13th February 2026 in Abuja, providing critical healthcare services and preventive health education to persons with albinism. A project funded by the Fondation Pierre Fabre (FPF).
The outreach, held at Casa De Lucy Hotel, brought together medical specialists, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and partners to deliver free dermatological and ophthalmological screening, medical consultations, counseling services, and distribution of protective health materials to beneficiaries.
The programme commenced with the registration and orientation of participants, followed by expert-led health talks that focused on preventive skin care, early detection of skin conditions, management of visual impairments, and general health risks associated with albinism.
Beneficiaries received comprehensive skin examinations, eye health assessments, psychosocial support, and medical prescriptions, while also benefiting from the distribution of sunscreen lotions, medications, and other protective materials essential for reducing the risks associated with prolonged sun exposure.
The outreach also created an opportunity for participants to interact directly with healthcare professionals, ask questions, and receive personalized medical advice on managing health conditions commonly associated with albinism.
The Albinism Association of Nigeria expresses deep appreciation to Fondation Pierre Fabre for its generous support and partnership, which made the successful implementation of the White Fire Medical Outreach Programme possible. Their commitment to improving healthcare access for vulnerable communities continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of persons with albinism in Nigeria.
Through initiatives such as the White Fire Medical Outreach Programme, the Albinism Association of Nigeria continues to strengthen efforts aimed at improving access to healthcare services, promoting preventive health awareness, and advancing the rights and wellbeing of persons with albinism in Nigeria.
