The Albinism Association of Nigeria (AAN), in partnership with Misty Glam Company, successfully held a One-Day Awareness Creation Meeting on Climate Change Resilience and an inspiring Albinism Awareness Pageant in Lagos.
The event focused on educating persons with albinism and stakeholders about the impact of climate change and practical strategies for resilience, including sun protection, healthy lifestyle practices, and community advocacy.
A major highlight was the Albinism Awareness Pageant – a bold and innovative platform that combined advocacy with empowerment. Contestants used the stage not just to display confidence and beauty but to deliver powerful messages on climate change, human rights, and inclusion.
“Climate change affects everyone, but for persons with albinism, its impact is intensified due to greater sensitivity to sun exposure. This initiative empowers our community to take action while changing the narrative about albinism,” said the AAN Executive Director during the event.
